Fewer toddlers and young children are being
exposed to liquid laundry detergent packets according to a new study. But
researchers say the decrease is only modest, and the packets remain a serious

Control Centers from 2012, when the packets first hit the market through 2017. During

Between 2015 and 2017, the number and rate of exposures in kids under 6
decreased, but only by 18%. At the same time exposures among older children and
adults actually rose. Eight deaths were associated with liquid laundry packages. Two
children under the age of 2 lost their lives, and six adults 43 and older.
